What hose material is best for dust collection?
For woodworking and CNC dust collection, PU (polyurethane) hose is the top choice — it offers 3x the abrasion resistance of PVC and is available with anti-static copper wire to prevent static buildup from wood chips and sawdust. For general-purpose dust collection on a budget, PVC hose works well for lighter dust loads. For heavy industrial environments with large particle volumes, our canvas duct hose (up to 48" diameter) handles the toughest applications. PU hose vs PVC hose — which should I choose?
PU (polyurethane) hose is 3x more abrasion-resistant than PVC, making it the better choice for CNC machines, woodworking, and any application with abrasive particles. PU hose is also available in anti-static versions with copper-plated wire, and FDA-grade PU is available for food-contact conveying. PVC hose is more cost-effective and works well for light dust, water drainage, and general ventilation where abrasion is not a concern. Temperature range is similar (-30°C to +80°C). What temperature can a silicone duct hose handle?
Our silicone fabric duct hose handles continuous temperatures from -30°C to +300°C (-22°F to +572°F), the highest rating in our industrial hose range. It is reinforced with a stainless steel wire helix and is self-extinguishing. Silicone duct hose is ideal for engine exhaust extraction, welding fume removal, industrial oven ventilation, and hot air ducting. For comparison, nylon hose is rated to +100°C and canvas to +150°C. Always select a hose rated at least 20% above your maximum operating temperature for safety margin.
How do I choose the right industrial hose diameter?
Industrial hose diameter depends on your required airflow velocity and volume. For dust collection, aim for 3,500–4,500 fpm (feet per minute) duct velocity to keep particles suspended — a 4" hose handles about 300 CFM, 6" handles about 700 CFM, and 8" handles about 1,250 CFM at these velocities. Do you offer anti-static dust collection hoses?
Yes. Our PU flexible hose features a copper-plated steel wire helix that can be grounded to dissipate static charge — critical for woodworking and powder handling where static sparks can ignite combustible dust. We also offer PVC hose with static-dissipative options. When ordering, specify "anti-static" and we will provide hose with a grounding wire.
